2 Latin American History Books:

"Lost World's of South America" & "Maya to Aztec: Ancient Mesoamerica Revealed" by Edwin Barnhart/The Greater Courses

South America and Latin America boast some of the most epic prehistoric civilizations and architecture the world has ever seen, rivaling even ancient Egypt. A couple of gems worth exploring are two Great Courses created by Edward Barnhard. The first, Lost Worlds of South America, delves into the Incan civilizations of South America, such as those responsible for iconic structures like Machu Picchu. Many of these structures appear almost otherworldly in their design, with an inexplicable and mystical quality that continues to captivate the imagination.

The second course, Maya to Aztec: Ancient Mesoamerica Revealed, explores the Aztec and Mayan societies of Mexico, highlighting cities like Tenochtitlán, the site of modern-day Mexico City. These texts uncover incredible details about these ingenious civilizations, showcasing their vibrant cultures and thriving societies. Both are highly recommended reads, but even more so is the opportunity to physically visit these sites and experience the mind-blowing marvels firsthand.
